Taking action leads to progress.

THE ROLE OF COURAGE

Doing something or taking action is always progress.  Whether its the right direction or not, its still movement. Building your awareness is also taking action. And the process of building your awareness as you begin to accept any current situation and accept yourself simply involves courage.

AVOID FEELING STUCK: Taking action leads to progress.

Do what you need to feel safe enough to take action. Otherwise you can stay feeling stuck. Avoid this. When we start learning about choice and how it is always ours and how it relates to our focus, we make progress. The words that we choose to speak to ourselves and to others and how we communicate with our body language or physiology all plays a role in our happiness and the direction of action.

THE ROLE OF GRATITUDE

Gratitude plays a role in all areas of our lives. It opens our eyes and heart to what might be possible. Have you heard of that saying if it’s going to be it’s up to me? Well this applies here. To really achieve, you simply must do something…take action. Taking action leads to progress.

NEW LEARNINGS

One thing I want you to understand is that many people read books, they go to workshops, go to retreats, they listen to audio programs, they gather and gather and gather more information. And intellectually they know exactly what steps they can take to have a fulfilled life but then what happens?

Nothing most of the time. They keep it as information that they are intellectually equipped with knowledge. Now they intellectually understand it. And they could even be sharing this information with others but they are not necessarily applying this information. I’ve seen it happen with differently educated “educators” in the education system.  One with a diploma and one with a degree may work exactly the same, yet they have learned different skills. This is where the difference is. And this is the difference we need to make.

IT’S UP TO YOU: Taking action leads to progress.

So you have heard if it’s going to be – it’s up to me. And yes that applies right here to really achieve a sustained life of fulfilment. You simply must do something different to what you have done in the past. Take action. Taking action leads to progress.

Something new something that probably doesn’t feel comfortable at first perhaps waiting for someone else to do something for you or for someone else to change or for a situation to change itself will not get you to where you wanted to be. Find your courage.  Be creative and just do something. Don’t wait for something to magically happen.

YOU NEED TO ACT: Taking action leads to progress.

Waiting is simply not enough. You must actually ‘act’ – I emphasise this. Decide to think, feel and act differently to how you have previously done. You must do something because this is the difference between success.

This is key. You actually were not doing anything about it in the past. So you know that it will feel different. It might feel unreal or it might feel like it’s not you. This is what you want. This is the turning point. That’s when you know you are doing something to move toward a more idea life for yourself. So how can you take action you may wonder?

THE POWER OF FOCUS

What can you do while the choice is yours though? The great thing about doing something, about taking some action, any action no matter how small the steps are.  Focusing on the action replaces your feelings of fear, of where or how to begin, or of what might happen.  Focus is what’s important here.

Don’t wait for fear to be gone before you can start. If you do, you will never begin. In the moment, and in the movement, of the action is the courage that you might have been needing. You do have a lot of choices and now you have a lot of practical strategies that you can apply in your life.

The question is, what will you do. What if there are a few areas of your life that aren’t going the way you’d like them to? Think of this now and what needs changing. Where would you start? Consider your thoughts right now. Think of your current situation. Choose and area of your life that you would like to take action to change or improve. Be aware of your thoughts. What thoughts are you noticing? Are they helping you move forward or are they keeping you stuck? Taking action leads to progress.

CHALLENGE THE CHEEKY MIND

Our minds are wired to search for and remember the negatives.  But you can challenge this. Our minds have a cheeky and sneaky way of justifying or trying to work against the things that we may actually want. However be strong and power through to be determined to know that you are worth it. The outcomes are worth working towards. 

So here are some tips for taking action.

Don’t wait until you feel motivated or ready to start. Motivation should not be in the equation. You will never feel completely ready or prepared for such change. You will always feel you need more time. But don’t be fooled by this. Break things into small steps.  You need process and a plan. Don’t try to change everything in your life at once.  Global ideas here do not work.  You always need a plan which involves steps.  Allow the bigger picture to be your bigger goal, but create steps. If you don’t make an impact have another go. Isn’t this what we tell our children. Even if sometimes your step takes you backwards take another step forward.  Its about movement.  Taking action leads to progress. Keep moving.

ACTION PLAN: Taking action leads to progress.

OK so now you need an action plan. Visualise what you need. Visualise what you would like. Consider what is in your control and what isn’t.  Action starts with a decision and action is up to you. Taking action leads to progress. No one can take action for you. You are responsible for your own actions. It is up to you and you can always find excuses not to act, until you decide that its important to take action. Do it. Find the courage.

You make a determined decision and you decide to act on it. So I’m going to ask you right now to make a decision to take one action step in one area of your life, and  make a commitment right now.

You are building self-reliance, self trust, and self empowerment.  Is this not a wonderful relationship with yourself? Enjoy the feeling.  Make the commitment to yourself.  All you need to do is take the first step and let the rest follow. Taking action leads to progress.
