Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,

What a challenge we face right now.

Home Schooling (who would have thought).  Plus official School holidays are right around the corner.

We need to do our part as a community.  We need to keep our kids home. EMOTIONAL WELLNESS DURING COVID-19

Together we will overcome the Covid-19 crisis.

One day soon we will be recovering.  

What can we do for our kids to ensure this period has minimal impact on our kids mental health

Each school holidays I offer emotional wellness workshops, and individual sessions.

As an essential service I am still operational for sessions inside my clinic for those in need (unless further restrictions apply).  

However for skills and wellness sessions and workshops, these holidays I am offering online sessions.  Let this be an option if it appeals to you or your child or teen.  

Some of my regular child and teen clients are experiencing higher levels of stress, anxiety, worry and overwhelm specifically due to the news, social media regarding the Covid-19 and witnessing parents conversations and fear.  

For this reason I will also run sessions specifically for such concerns.  The aim is to be aware but not afraid.  To be calm and carry on AND being part of the solution not part of the problem. EMOTIONAL WELLNESS DURING COVID-19

Everyday issues do not disappear of course, nor does the need to improve skills.

This week I have used Zoom, Skype, Normal Telephone and FaceTime to conduct sessions with kids (and adults).  They have been successful and so I will continue the offer over the school holidays at a discounted rate for kids and teens.  If being on video is a concern, the video screen can be muted with a photo so that only voice is communicated.  

This is a great opportunity for senior year students e.g. HSC kids to reach out if they need to deal with stress, focus, busy mind, procrastination, anxiety and more.

Most regulars come during school holidays as a way of gaining personal development skills.  This is still an option, except now it will be online.  Thats right, no travel time, and in the comfort of your  own home.

A rather popular one, I call “chit chat” session.  Here the child gets to chit chat whilst I ensure feelings are identified, expressed, and released in a healthy way.  Quite often a challenge is brought up and I strategically guide the child into discovering his or her own resourceful solution.  A sense of achievement and confidence. 

Bottom line, an effective psychotherapy session.

So if you would like some emotional wellness to be included into your child’s home school and school holiday period, please book asap.  All they need is a device (phone, tablet such as ipad, desktop or laptop).  

Remember its not about keeping them busy.  

It’s not about keeping them distracted.

It’s about monitoring and creating wellness, resilience and skills. 

A quiet space (free of interruptions), headphones and internet.

Let’s be flexible during such times.  If your child is unwell, you just cancel with all money refunded.
