MY CALM PLACE

MY CALM PLACE

This activity combines yoga, meditation, mindfulness and guided imagery activities to soothe emotions and promote self-regulation in children.

There are 4 categories to choose from:

  1. Movement cards consist of yoga poses and low impact exercises to relax and recharge the inner and outer self.

For Example:

Starfish:

While standing, extend your

Arms and legs in an X.

Breathe.

As you reach higher with

Your right hand, push your

Left foot into the floor and

hold.

Now, reach high with your

Left hand and push into the

Right foot.

Be the Starfish.

  1. Imagination combines positive psychology and guided imagery to calm, relieve stress and manage emotions.

For Example:

Floating:

Visualise yourself floating

On a river.

Breathe and watch your

Thoughts float by.

Match words to your image,

And let them soothe you like,

I float through life easily.

  1. Meditation works on practicing breathing and refocusing attention to improve concentration.

For Example:

Clouds passing:

To clear your mind,

Breathe deeply.

Watch your thoughts like

Clouds passing in the sky.

Without clinging to them,

Let the thoughts float by.

  1. Connection helps to nurture relationships, either with yourself or those around you.

For Example:

Connect to a friend:

When you listen to a friend,

Make eye contact.

Sense the feelings

Under the words

Let go of what is in your head.

Breathe, connect and listen.

These wonderful activities help our kids land in a safe and calm place.

There are so many more activities to choose and the kids love them!!!
